Must We Lose Our Liberty to Defend Iraq?

April 12, 2008 / by Slywoody3

The US is rated # 53 [with Tonga] in press freedom. The smart play is to wrap the dead fish in it before you read the newspaper. Television has declined even further. In the olden days one could attach his Commodore computer to his set. At least, he could write mash notes to Debbie Reynolds.

Essentially, the mass media and its sponsors work to delude, insulate and dummy up the public to be unquestioning consumers. Fundamentalist preachers promise a fast track to heaven for the most heinous of sinners, so long as the check is in the mail. Somehow, minimum wage workers can assembly line a hamburger better than mom can make at home. There is no reason to discuss the ingredients.

When the newscasters want to do an in depth study on Iraq, they talk to local college professors and the proverbial American in the street. They toss in film footage from the battles to show the Iraqis as savage brutes incapable of Christian compassion.
